Polybutylene Terephthalate is a raw material for synthetic fibres and engineering plastics. It is semi-crystalline, white or off-white polyester similar in both composition and properties to Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). It has lower strength and stiffness than Polyethylene Terephthalate. As PBT crystallizes more rapidly than PET, PBT is preferred for industrial-scale moulding. PBT Resin is the base resin which is used as PBT compound which may be a combination of PBT resin, fibreglass filling, minerals and/or other additives such as UV protection agents, flame retardants etc.
